Mister Ries

He discovered electronic music in general through a local Rotterdam radio station around 1992. In Holland, that was the start of house-mega mixes. In the time between 93 and 96 he listened to various, music styles including hip hop, breakbeats, house, and minimal techno. Ries discovered the Ghetto house label Dance Mania through the track "Teachers" from Daft Punk’s album "Homework". The album said the names of producers and DJ’s that inspired them. After that he found some Dance Mania records, they got him on the path of ghetto-tech records leading him to buy some releases on GTI and Databass.

It was only around 2000 that he saw a video of DJ Godfather. He knew some of the records, but the way they were played was just unseen to him. Mister Ries than started focusing mainly on ghetto-tech. Clone Records in Rotterdam was a good help. They had a lot of records he needed combined with the records he already had to do complete Ghetto Tech sets.

Mister Ries is now taking Ghetto Tech music to the Dutch crowd. Impressed and inspired by the mixing style of Ghetto Tech, he switched to battle style mixing. When he starts scratching and beat juggling, he is known to make heads turn all over Europe.

With his debut release on Databass, "Pass The Dutch", he is the first producer who makes it across the Atlantic from Holland and a second release on the new upcomming ghettotech label "4 player records" . Watch out for this one !
